Movie Of The Month (Love & Basketball)

In 1981 in L.A., Monica moves in next door to Quincy. They're 11, and both want to play in the NBA, just like Quincy's dad. Their love-hate relationship lasts into high school, with Monica's edge and Quincy's top-dog attitude separating them, except when Quincy's parents argue and he climbs through Monica's window to sleep on the floor. As high school ends, they come together as a couple, but within a year, with both of them playing ball at USC, Quincy's relationship with his father takes an ugly turn, and it leads to a break up with Monica. Some years later, their pro careers at a crossroads, they meet again. It's time for a final game of one-on-one with high stakes.

A New Pair Of Saggs'

I feel like buying me a new pair of baggy jeans. I love them! super comfy. I think i have tried out every style to be. I also like to mix match different styles from different era's. I got stuck in my baggy's in my teens, after being a "punker" for quite a while. Call me a chameleon. My favorite baggy's are the one's they wore in the 80's, resembling the "Mc Hammer" joint. I really like the "Aaliyah" pants too. The Boyfriend jeans works as well, think "Pharell". So what new pair should i buy? The only problem i have with the late 90's one's is that they are usually too big for my skinny waist, i have tons in my closet that are way too big!!! I must have had like 3 belt's on. Need to give some away and have some re-made. I think I'm going with the Hammer this time.

Unwed Mothers

Bible Study:
During biblical times, bearing a child out of wedlock brought severe consequences to the mother. In addition to shame and condemnation, the woman often experienced rejection by her family and ridicule by her social community. Many women were forced into a life of prostitution in an effort to support their children. In our society today, we still see a large number of unwed mothers. Many of these women, like women in biblical times, experience shame, ridicule, and rejection by friends and family. Due to circumstances, they find themselves in a cycle of poverty struggling to provide a decent life for themselves and their children. Although marriage is desirable and ordained by God, the Bible teaches us that regardless of  the circumstances of a child's birth, God values the life of all children and has a divine plan for each child's life.
In the story of Abraham and Sarah, God never stopped loving and caring for both Hagar and Ishmael. He provided water for her and her son in the wilderness. The name Ishmael in Hebrew means, "God hears" (Gen. 16; 21:8-20). Unwed mothers can find comfort in three biblical truths:

  1. god loves and cares for them and their children (Mark 10:13-16).
  2. God is willing and able to supply all of their needs according to His riches in glory (Phil. 4:19)
  3. There is no condemnation for those who are in Chris Jesus (Rom. 8:1)
Read Genesis 16:6-16.

After Party

So, I got invited to the Blog Awards! (thanks) I have never attended any Blog parties before. I thought it would be fun to check it out, right? and since i didn't have any plans for the night, i was like why not?
I don't really like to use the term "Blogging" when i "Blog" I'd rather say notebook/diary maybe "noteing"? (is that a word?) I tend to make words up! But you know, instead of writing it down on a piece of paper, I put up my thoughts, likes and dislikes here. Well i guess that's what they call blogging, duh! (my bright-light's off at the moment). Blogging "noteing" for me is a way of expressing myself to myself, i guess like talking to myself (light's on). Usually the people who read my page are acquaintance, fam and friends. But hey! if anyone else find it interesting i don't mind sharing. I will never expose myself completely on here. I will only serve you appetizers lol. As far as how long i will have it open for the public, i don't know yet. Will see...I'm thinking of turning it to a private site soon, (username + password) I will keep you posted.
(it's 4.30 AM over here i might have to re-write this post, my English is turning Swenglish)

RED Smooch!

When it comes to make up there is no bigger statement than red lips. The look is stunning, attention grabbing and a timeless classic. And the best thing is that anyone can pull off red lips

Do you love the look of classic red lips, but feel intimidated by all the red lipstick choices? You're not alone!Red lipstick looks beautiful on everyone, but most women just don't know how to choose the right shade of lipstick. Pick the perfect siren shade of red lipstick for your.

Prepare Your Lips
Before applying any lipstick you should always make sure that your lips are smooth. Also, because red lipstick tends to bleed into the tiny lines around your mouth, it’s a good idea to add some lip primer or foundation to your lips as a base, and to use a lipstick liner.

How to Find Your Skin Tone Temperature

  1. Flip your arm over so you have a good view of the underside of the forearm. Make sure you’re in good lighting. Daylight is best.
  2. Have a look at the color of your skin. If you see undertones of yellow or orange, you’re warm-toned. If you have undertones of pink or blue, you’re cool-toned. (This applies to women of all ethnicities.)
  3. Still not sure? Look at the veins running along your arm. Warm-toned gals will have a slight green tint to their veins. Cool-toned gals will have very blue, almost purple, veins

Now that you know whether you’re warm or cool, it’s pretty easy to find the right shade of red lipstick.
For Warm-Toned Skin - Look for lipsticks with orange, yellow or golden hues. These shades will look best with your skin.
For Cool-Toned Skin - Pick up lipsticks with a blue base. The cooler shade will accent the coolness in your skin.
When in Doubt… If you’re not sure if the red lipstick will look right on you, there are two things you can do:
Strip your lips of any balms or other lipsticks so your natural lip color is showing. Apply a red lipstick shade that you like to your top lip only and then look at the color against your natural bottom lip. If the red lipstick is one or two shades darker then you’ve found the shade that will look the most flattering on you!
  1. Pick a shade of pure red that falls between the cool and warm categories. When you look at the color, you shouldn’t see a hue of orange or blue. Just pure, vibrant red. This shade should look good on most women, in theory. (This shade is also harder to find, but most good cosmetics companies have a true red somewhere in their lipstick line.)
  2. Test it out. This works best if you’re at a department store’s cosmetics counter  where you can test the lipsticks on site. Even if you’re at a drug store. When you test it on your lips, look at your skin and your teeth. Your skin should be vibrant and bright. Your teeth should look white (or as close to white as your teeth can get.) The wrong red lipstick will make you look sallow and your teeth yellow.
  3. Get it right, and your lipstick, will blend into an effortlessly pulled together look. Get it wrong, and you could end up with lips that overpower and leave you looking like a clown.  No one wants that!
  4. The final thing when it comes to red lipstick is to let it be your focus point. Tone down all other makeup and hide any redness in your complexion with concealer (especially around your nose). Pale skin and the bare minimum on your cheeks and eyes will give you a bigger lipstick pop.
If you follow these rules, you should be able to find a shade of red lipstick that looks amazing on you. You’re no longer one of those women who can’t pull it off. You’re one of those women to be envied. Congrats! lol

Other Ways To...

FIND THE RIGHT SHADE

Skin Color
For lighter - fair skin = blue based reds / cool crimson
Medium - olive = true reds / orange based
Darker - complexioned skin = blood reds / burgundy

Eye Color
For light brown, hazel, or green eyes - chose an orange-red lipstick, for more golden shimmery eyes
For blue eyes/grey - try true "Wonder Woman" red , makes the blue pop out.
For dark brown eyes - Berry-red lipstick highlights the mahogany and purple tints in these eyes

Hair Color
If you’ve got Brown or Black hair with a warm complexion then look for shades of red with a brown base. Lipsticks that use words like, deep orange, golden red and coral to describe the shade is what you’re looking for. If your complexion is on the cooler side then try cherry reds, plum and burgundy.
Blondes with a warm complexion can get away with coral red, orange red, or copper red. While cool complexions should give anything described as dusty rose, plum pink, light red/rose or any red with a blue undertone a go.
Redheads with a warm complexion should go for orangey, brighter shades of red. While those with a cool complexion can pull off blue toned reds (which make teeth look whiter) and darker reds like plum, berry and
brick.

By following these rules and finding the right shade for you, matching it to your hair color and complexion, preparing your lips, and letting your lipstick have the spotlight then you should be able to pull off red lipstick without any problems. The only decision to make after that is how many different shades to buy.
"You go, girl. Get your red on!"

Lipstick on the Teeth? "The moment you're done applying your lipstick, take a q-tip, pop it in your mouth and pull it out. The q-tip gets rid of all the lipstick on the inside of your lips, so when you smile it doesn't get on your teeth."  Mmwaaahh!!

godiz - red is such a classic look.

Put an End To War

Last Night I Had The Strangest Dream
words and music by Ed McCurdy

Last night I had the strangest dream
I'd ever dreamed before
I dreamed the world had all agreed
To put an end to war

I dreamed I saw a mighty room
Filled with women and men
And the paper they were signing said
They'd never fight again

And when the paper was all signed
And a million copies made
They all joined hands and bowed their heads
And grateful pray'rs were prayed

And the people in the streets below
Were dancing 'round and 'round
While swords and guns and uniforms
Were scattered on the ground

Last night I had the strangest dream
I'd never dreamed before
I dreamed the world had all agreed
To put an end to war.
