In His Own Words

John 17:1–26

These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him. And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word. Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee. For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me. I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine. And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them. And now  I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are. While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and l none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled. And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves. I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.  They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is a truth. As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that  they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And l the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, l which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world. O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me. And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.

Inspo Story - Don't Hurry Love

Many years ago all feeling and emotions have gathered to spend their vacation on a coastal island. Each of them was having a good time, but one day there was announced a warning of a storm and everyone had to leave the island.
This caused a panic, all rushed to their boats and only Love did not wish to be in a hurry. There was so much to do, so Love was the last, who realized that it was time to leave. However, no free boats were left and Love looked around with hope.
As Prosperity was passing by in its classy boat, Love asked: „Please, take me in your boat“. But Prosperity replied: „My boat is full of gold and other precious possessions, there is no place for you“.
Then Vanity came by in a lovely boat. Love asked: „Vanity, could you take me in your boat? Please, help me.” Vanity said: „No, your feet are muddy, and I don‘t want my boat get dirty.”
A bit later Sorrow was passing by and Love called for help. But Sorrow answered: „I am so sad, I want to be by myself“.
Then Happiness came by, Love asked for help, but Happiness was too happy, it hardly concerned about anyone.
Suddenly somebody called out: „Love, I will take you with me“. Love did not recognize its saviour, just gratefully jumped on to the boat.
When everyone had reached safe place, Love get off the boat and met Knowledge. Love asked: „Knowledge, do you know who helped me when everyone else turned away?”
Knowledge smiled: „That was Time, because only Time knows Love‘s true value and what Love is capable of. Only Love can bring peace and happiness.”

The message of this story is that when we are prosperous, we underrate Love. When we feel important, we do not appreciate love. And even in happiness and sorrow we overlook love. Only with time we realize the true value of love. Why wait and not cherish Love every day of your life?

Fruit Of The Spirit - Forgiveness

Forgiveness, The doorway to healing and reconciliation: One of life's greatest challenges  is to forgive someone who has hurt us. Offenses range from the unspeakable to the unbearable. The pain can be deadly. Yet when someone asks you for forgiveness, you have an obligation to grant it. Forgiveness of others is a prerequisite for God to forgive you (Matt. 6:14; James 2:13). Love is the primary ingredient for forgiveness. It is giving the gift that God brought to us in Christ! We forgive by faith, not by feelings. Luke 11:4 reminds us that we are to forgive others as God has forgiven us. By faith, God creates the capacity in us to forgive those who have trespassed against us. We must forgive others if we don't want to disobey God and break our fellowship with Him (Matt. 6:14-15; Mark 11:25-26; Luke 17:3-4). The gift of forgiveness is here. It came at Calvary! It was given to us before we asked. Paul writers in Romans 5:10-11 "When we were enemies (of God), we were reconciled to God... through our Lord Jesus Christ." Just as God, In Christ, forgave us before we knew to ask, we may need to forgive others before we are asked. In many cases the person or people may never ask for forgiveness. They may never deserve our forgiveness. However, if we wish to be healed from the hurt, we will give the gift that makes reconciliation and healing possible. To forgive is not easy, but possible! You must be willing to forget past hurts (Phil. 3:13), pray for the offender (1 Sam. 12:23), and give God your hurt (1 Peter 2:21-23), as well as serve as a channel for God's grace. Most importantly, we are learning that forgiveness is the doorway to reconciliation. If we desire to live reconciled lives -- at peace with God and creation -- we will share this gift as often as necessary. Giving it away sets us free to be healed and made whole! A forgiving spirit will bring blessings to you and others (Prov. 11:17, 15:23). Read Matthew 6:14-15; Mark 11:25-26.

Chocolate Biskvies

Biskvi are a popular cookie from Sweden with an almond macaroon base, chocolate buttercream filling and a chocolaty shell. This recipe best imitates the biskvi found in Sweden.

Chocolate Biskvi

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Cookie

3 large egg whites
1 cup sugar
4 oz. blanched, slivered almonds
3/4 cup bread crumbs (I use Progresso brand)

Filling
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
1 1/2 cup powdered sugar
4 Tbsp cocoa powder
2 tsp vanilla extract
Pinch of salt

Glaze
8 oz. semi sweet chocolate - chips or chunks
6-8 Tbsp unsalted butter

Prepare and bake the cookie

  1. Grind the almonds in a food processor until fine.
  2. Whisk the egg whites for a minute in a stand mixer. Add sugar and whisk on high for 3-4 minutes, until a stiff meringue is formed.
  3. Stir in bread crumbs and almonds and let the dough rest for 15-20 minutes.
  4. Drop teaspoon sized mounds onto a cookie sheet lined with a silicone baking mat or sprayed with non-stick cooking spray.
  5. Bake for 10 minutes. Remove with a metal spatula so they don't crumble and cool on a wire rack, round side down.
Prepare the filling and frost the cookiesSift powdered sugar and cocoa together onto a flexible mat or piece of wax paper. Cream the butter on high until lighter in color and smooth. On slow speed, add the sugar/cocoa mixture until combined. Add the vanilla and mix on medium-high until smooth.
Smooth a mound of filling onto the flat side of each cookie. Place them in the freezer for 10 minutes or so while you prepare the glaze.

Make the glaze In a double boiler melt the chocolate and 6 Tbsp of the butter over medium heat. Stir until smooth. It should be the consistency of Hershey's syrup. If needed, add more butter. As you glaze the cookies, you may need to reheat the glaze if it begins to stiffen.
The easiest way to apply the glaze is to dunk the chocolate half of the cookie into the pot of glaze.

Notes
Biskvi freeze really well so if you want to save some for a later date then you don't need to worry about them degrading too much in the freezer.

tips - you can throw in some fresh raspberries in the mixture, filling if you like.

enjoy

P Getting Checked

Be Sober My Brothers & Sisters

Here are just some of the verses in the Bible that tells us to be sober and awake. Stay clean and use your common sense.

1 Corinthians 3:16-17 (KJV)
Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

Romans 12:3 (KJV)
For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

1 Thessalonians 5:6 (KJV)
Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

1 Peter 5:8 (KJV)
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

2 Corinthians 5:13 (KJV)
For whether we be beside ourselves, it is to God: or whether we be sober, it is for your cause.

1 Thessalonians 5:8 (KJV)
But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

Titus 2:12 (KJV)
Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

1 Timothy 3:2 (KJV)
A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;

Titus 2:2 (KJV)
That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.

1 Peter 1:13 (KJV)
Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

1 Peter 4:7 (KJV)
But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.

WE CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHO STRENGTHENS US!

Hello?

godiz - aww her face, poor baby... I wanna rescue her, lil' moosi head.

Doggy Disc

Slipped Disc, Bad Back, & Muscle Spasms in Dogs
It’s upsetting to see your dog out of sorts, especially if you don’t know the cause of her distress. Dogs can develop pain in their necks or backs for reasons such as disc disease, an injury to the spinal cord or surrounding soft tissue, or an infection.

Posture and Pain

Certain breeds, such as the Lhasa apso, Shih tzu, Dachshund and Pekingese, are predisposed to back problems caused by intervertebral disc disease. Your dog’s posture can be a strong indicator if it's suffering from this type of pain. It may stand awkwardly, arch It's back or appear hunched over. A dog with back pain may also stretch frequently, trying to relieve the pressure on It's back. Some dogs cry or whimper when they are in pain, while others are completely silent. If your dog makes any of these sounds when she moves, take it to the veterinarian to find out whether it has disc disease.

General Wellbeing

One of the main symptoms of back or neck pain is a general indication that your dog is not well. It may seem listless and lacking in energy, or may refuse to eat her food. A lack of interest in It's favorite activities could also be a symptom of pain, especially if accompanied by another of the common signs. Many breeds are fussy eaters, and if your dog has a reduced appetite, it may not be obvious that there is a specific cause. Evaluate the combination of symptoms to get an idea of whether your dog is showing signs of back or neck pain.

Stiffness and Weakness

Stiffness often accompanies neck and back pain. If your dog seems reluctant to turn It's head, or turns the entire body instead, it may indicate a stiff, sore neck. Small dogs typically run and jump a lot, so stiffness may cause it to move more slowly. Back pain, however, usually appears as paralysis, stiffness or limited movement in the hindquarters. A painful back injury could also cause weakness in the dog’s back legs, and may result it becoming less active than usual.

Bladder Control

Once pain and stiffness affect your dog’s lower back, they can result in becoming incontinent. It may no longer be able to control the bladder or bowel movements. Apart from old age, incontinence in a dog is usually a sign that the dog is suffering from a medical condition, and if this is caused by back pain, a warm compress on the site of the pain may help to keep it mobile.

Bruising or Bleeding

Physical symptoms such as bruising, bleeding, puncture wounds or lacerations are obvious causes of neck or back pain. Internal damage, for example a twist or sprain, isn’t obvious from looking at the outside of the dog’s body, but if your dog’s back or neck appears sensitive or she complains when you touch, it could be a result of pain from an injury or illness, such as intervertebral disc disease.

godiz - My dog Prince i believe has some type of neck/back disc problems, that appears once every now and then. I stopped using a collar a while back and replaced those with different harnesses. Whenever i use a collar, i use it along with a retractable leash. I think it's important to switch it up, so the pressure wont be at the same spot every time the dog pulls. I'm not a huge fan of drugs, so i always like to try natural remedies before i go further. Hope this help other doggies with the same problems. (lil Prince resting)
